The Blackcaps newcomer, Martin Guptill, will take on the more familiar role of opener when he debuts for the New Zealand cricket side in today's one dayer against the West Indies.
Following the dropping of Jesse Ryder, Guptill, who opens for Auckland, was to bat at three in Auckland.
Meanwhile Central Stags captain Matthew Sinclair has been called into the side for this match and will bat at number three.
