Cricket one day international rained off

7:09 pm on 10 January 2009

The fourth one day cricket international between New Zealand and the West Indies has been abandoned because of rain.

The West Indies were 64 for none chasing a revised target of 235 when they were forced from the field for a second time at about six o'clock.

Chris Gayle was not out on 46.

Earlier, New Zealand posted 275 for four from its 50 overs.

The hero of the innings was opening batsman and debutant Martin Guptill - who carried his bat for 122 not out.

He is the first New Zealander to score a hundred on their limited overs debut.

His century is also the second highest effort ever in international one day cricket by a debutant.
