Defending champion skips, Ryan Bester and Jo Babich, both dropped a game on the first day of section play of the fours at the National Open Bowls Championships.
But they remain on target to gain the four wins necessary to qualify for post section play in Auckland.
Bester's qaurtet lost the second of three games yesterday to a team of young guns, Mark Watt, Ryan Khan, Greg Ruaporo and Ciaran McElvanna 19-17.
But Bester( Cabramatta) regained composure to race away to a massive 20 - 5 win in his third.
Babich (Carlton-Cornwall) started the day well with two good wins but found a tough opponent in her third match against fellow national squad member, Jan Khan (Beckenham), with Khan victorious16 - 15.
