The New Zealand women's football side has suffered a a six nil defeat to host China in their Four Nations Tournament opener.
China led two nil at halftime before doubling the tally in the second spell with three goals scored in the last 20 minutes.
New Zealand coach John Herdman says China found another gear and his side couldn't live with them.
Ten under 20 players won game time.
The Football Ferns take on Korea Republic tomorrow and Finland on Wednesday.
