Japanese golfer Toru Taniguchi holed the winning putt as Asia completed a convincing 10-6 victory over defending champions Europe in the Royal Trophy competition.
After dominating the first two days Asia needed just two points from eight singles matches to secure a first ever win at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bankok.
The loss was a blow to European captain Jose Maria Olazabal who yearned for a victory to underline his credentials as a future Ryder Cup captain.
