Investigation launched into Tongan rugby player's death

An investigation has been launched into the death of a Tongan rugby player who died from an apparent heart attack during a French third division match.

French investigators are undertaking a forensic investigation to determine the possible presence of any toxic compounds in the body of 28-year-old Perigueux flanker Feao Latu, who collapsed and died in his side's top-of-the-table match at Cahors.

Results of tests will be known soon.

Latu was pronounced dead in hospital following 45 minutes of emergency treatment pitchside.

The 28-year-old father of two collapsed after complaining of feeling unwell in the 17th minute.
