A 170 run third wicket partnership between West Indies skipper Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul has seen the tourists through to 293 for nine, in the final one day cricket international against New Zealand in Napier.

Gayle scored 135 at a rate of a run a ball, his 19th century in one day internationals and equalling Brian Lara's record for the Windies.

But after Gayle departed the tourists lost their next six wickets for just 50 runs with Chanderpaul making 96.

Bowling for the Black Caps Mark Gillespie took 4 for 58 and Kyle Mills 3 for 57.

With the two sides having won a match each, the winner of today's game will take the series.
