Sevens rugby coach Gordon Tietjens has named a 24-man New Zealand trial squad to fight it out in Mount Maunganui for a place in the national side.
The 24 will be cut to 17 when Teitjens names his national squad next Thursday and the trial is a chance for several newcomers including Wellington flyer Joe Hill and North Harbour giant Malakai Ravulo to impress.
The New Zealand side will defend their Wellington Sevens title at Westpac Stadium early next month.
