Indian cricketers to play extra Test in Napier

India will play an extra cricket Test in Napier when they tour New Zealand next month.

A third Test and a Twenty-20 match to start the tour - to be played in Christchurch - have been included in the schedule, after India cancelled their planned tour of Pakistan because of security concerns.

The Indian team will arrive on February 20th eight days earlier than originally scheduled.

The Napier Test will start on March 26th, with the first Test in Hamilton which was due to begin then moves forward a week to March 18th.

New Zealand Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan says the easiest solution would have been to play the extra Test at the start of the tour and then go into the five one dayers then play the other two Tests but that posed a few problems.

A major one was that India's one day and Test squads are quite different so tacking the extra Test on at the start wasn't an option.

The third Test in Wellington is still scheduled to begin on April 3rd.

The tour will now be made up of five one day internationals, two Twenty-20 matches and the three Tests.
