Soderling completes Heineken Open semi-final lineup

9:54 pm on 15 January 2009

The sem-finalists have been found at the Heineken Tennis Open in Auckland after Robin Soderling ended the six match run of the qualifier John Isner (IS-ner),

The Swedish third seed won 6- 6-4 in just under an hour after breaking the tall American's serve in the seventh game of the first set and first game of the second.

Isner's run of six matches, most of them long, had taken it's toll and while he had the serve and forehand to counter Soderling he lacked a strong backhand and the Swede just had to be patient and wait for mistakes.

They came regularly and the match ended in just under an hour.

Soderling will play the top seed Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina tomorrow after the Spanish second seed David Ferrer takes on the sixth seed Sam Querrey of the United States.
