The champions Manchester United are top of the English Premier Football League after winning 1-0 at Bolton through a late Dimitar Berbatov goal in the 90th minute.

Arsenal have won 3-1 at Hull City in the late game to keep the pressure on the top four.

Aston Villa stay fourth after winning away at Sunderland 2-1 but it's as tight at the top as at the other end of the table.

Just a point separates each side in the Champions League places from the next.

Chelsea also left it extremely late, beating Stoke 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in London.

The Blues trailed 1-0 until Juliano Belletti equalised in the 88th minute then Frank Lampard sealed a crucial victory in the 94th.

Stoke move into the relegation zone.

Liverpool have yet to play and will now have extra incentive in the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield tomorrow.

Meanwhile the All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen's Blackburn Rovers are out of the bottom three after a 3-0 home win over Newcastle.

West Bromwich Albion's second great escape is looking more likely after a 3-0 win against visitors Middlesbrough.

Boro remain above them on goal difference but it's still extremely tight in the relegation battle and West Brom are off the bottom, replaced by Tottenham.

Manchester City also beat Wigan 1-0.
