Canterbury's seven wicket win over Wellington at the Basin Reserve moves them into second in the one day State Shield competition.

An unbeaten 85 from to Peter Fulton helped Canterbury to a revised target of 221 with 19 balls to spare, leaving them with 20 points, five behind Northern Districts.

The remaining two matches of the ninth and penultimate round will be played tomorrow.

Wellington were kept to 217 for nine after losing an over to rain.
