England prop Stevens suspended

The England prop Matt Stevens has been provisionally suspended from all rugby after testing positive for a recreational drug.

The Bath player had been due to fly to Portugal with the England team on Sunday as they prepare for this season's Six Nations Championship.

Instead he's been removed from the England Elite squad because of the test taken after the Heineken Cup match against Glasgow Warriors in December.

Stevens, who was born in South Africa, says the drug is prohibited but it's not performance enhancing.

The 26-year-old says he's attending counselling sessions and knows he has a problem.

He says people have put a lot of time into his career and he's thrown it away
