Butterworth says next America's Cup will be a boost for challengers

The New Zealand skipper of Amercia's Cup holder Alinghi says the new class of boat to be introduced for the next America's Cup will increase the chances of challengers.

Brad Butterworth's Swiss team is pressing on with plans to defend their trophy in 2010 despite the uncertainty surrounding the event because of legal action for almost two years.

At the end of the month Alinghi is set to announce new class rules demanding new boats be lighter and faster than previous editions.

Butterworth says it'll offer the challengers their best chance of winning the cup on their first outing.

The 33rd running of the race was originally scheduled for this year but was put on hold after US rivals BMW Oracle challenged the legality of the Spanish team recognised by Alinghi as the official challenger of record.

The dispute is set to be resolved in a New York court in March or April.
