The Cycling Tour Down Under will have a new champion after last year's winner Andre Grieppel was involved in a crash during the third stage which ended his race.
Grieppel who suffered a dislocated shoulder in the crash was one of eight riders ruled out following the accident.
The overnight leader Australian Allan Davis who was also involved but recovered to finish second thought his Tour was over.
