The seven-times NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning has announced his retirement from basketball, ending speculation he may return to the Miami Heat.
The 38-year-old has not played since suffering a knee injury in December 2007 and told a press conference after spending 16 years in the league it's time to retire.
Mourning is widely respected for his extensive charity and community work and is tipped to be a future Hall of Fame member.
