The Wellington Phoenix football club have moved swiftly to secure Brazilian midfielder Diego for the 2009-10 A-League season.
The 29-year-old was told this week he would be released by current club Adelaide United at the end of the current campaign after being with the Reds since early 2007.
Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata says Diego will prove a strong addition to the club's roster.
He says the club has been looking at him for a while and he's exactly the type of player they need.
The agenda was to go out and get an attacking-minded midfielder and Diego really fits the bill.
