The Milwaukee Bucks basketballer Michael Redd will miss the the remainder of the NBA season after suffering a serious knee injury.

The 29-year-old tore anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in the Bucks' win over Sacramento.

Milwaukee general manager John Hammond says surgery will be scheduled at a later date.

Redd says he's deeply disappointed but everything in life happens for a reason.

Redd has started in 32 of 33 games for the Bucks this season and averaged a team-best 21.2 points per game.
