The Russian tennis star Elena Dementieva has had a convinving win over her quarter final opponent Carla Swarez Nivaro at the Australian Tennis Open.
The New Zealand ASB Classic champion beat the Spaniard in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Dementieva now playing her 10th Australian open has the chance of becoming the number one ranked player in the world if she can go all the way at the tournament.
She says she's excited at the prospect but wants to focus on her semi-final - her first at the Australian Open.
Dementieva will play either Venus Williams or Svetlana Kuznetsova in tomorrow's semi-final.
