Century for McCullum despite injury

9:15 am on 30 January 2009

The hip injury Brendon McCullum suffered in training didn't stop him scoring a century in the New Zealand cricketers' one-day warm-up match against an Australian Prime Minister's XI in Canberra.

It did stopp him keeping wickets however.

ACT's under-19 national representative Ryan Carter got behind the stumps for New Zealand in the 37 degree heat after McCullum topscored with 114 off 130 balls.

Peter Fulton made 53 as the Black Caps made 271 for 5.

There was a new look to the Black Caps lineup for the warm-up match.

As well as McCullum opening the innings with Martin Guptill, who made 16, Fulton and Ross Taylor (38)moved up the order after Jesse Ryder pulled out with another training injury yesterday.

Grant Elliott was 29 not out and Neil Broom made one in the tourists' 50 overs.

Kyle Mills, Daniel Vettori, Jeetan Patel, Ian O'Brien and Trent Boult didn't bat.

Brendan Diamanti was the 12th man.

With injuries to McCullum and Ryder, Gareth Hopkins and Craig Cumming will join the team in Perth as cover for the start of the Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia.
