The New Zealand cricketers have been beaten by the Prime Minister's Eleven by six wickets in their one-day warm-up match in Canberra.

The Black Caps made 271 for five with Brendon McCullum topscoring with 114.

In reply the Prime Minister's Eleven reached the target of 272 with two overs to spare.

Meanwhile the Black Caps medical staff are hopeful Jesse Ryder will be fit again in time for the second one-dayer against Australia in Melbourne next Friday.

Ryder suffered a shoulder injury in practice on Wednesday but will remain with the team in Australia after an injection to relieve the swelling and pain.
