Blacksticks face India first at Punjabi Cup

The New Zealand men's hockey team kicks of their Punjabi Cup campaign against host nation India tomorrow and after losing several senior players to retirement last year the Blacksticks are looking to rebuild.

The New Zealander's recieved a late invitation to the prestigious event after Pakistan withdrew following the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

With the 2010 hockey world cup and the Commonwealth games being held in India next year coach Shane McLeod says the Punjabi Cup gives will give the new Blacksticks a taste of what's to come.

He says the Blacksticks will play Holland, Germany and India at the four nations tournament in Chandigarh, India.
