The New Zealand men's hockey team have been beaten by hosts India 2-nil in their opening game of the Punjab Gold Cup in front of 12-thousand spectators.
The game was evenly balanced up to the 20th minute when the Indians were awarded a controversial penalty corner which was converted by Sandeep Singh, their renowned dragflick specialist.
The match was a first for four New Zealand players Joel Baker, Dave Green, Shay Neal and Priyesh Bhana.
