Drysdale beaten at North island champs

The two time under-23 rowing champion Joseph Sullivan has won the North Island championship at Lake Karapiro.

The Picton rower held off triple world champion Mahe Drysdale and former Under-23 world champion Peter Taylor for the win on Sunday

New pair combination Hamish Bond and Eric Murray, veterans of the 2007 world championship winning coxless four, - won the pair.

Murray was also part of the winning coxless four, coxed four and eight.

Emma Twigg won the women's single scull, finishing clear of 2001 world silver medallist in the quadruple scull, Paula Twining.
