The Australian cricketing woes continue, this time losing to New Zealand in the first of the five one day matches in the Chappell-Hadlee series at the WACA in Perth last night.

Australia batting first made 181 in 49 overs, with New Zealand reaching the winning target at 185 for eight in their 50 overs.

The homeside lost the test and one day sereis along with their number one world ranking to South Africa recently.

However, captain Ricky Ponting says they're not being complacent and they're trying their hardest to turn around their fortunes but it just hasn't happened yet.
