Former All Black picked up by new English club

The former All Black first five Carlos Spencer has started another phase in his English rugby career having been been snapped up by the English premiership leaders Gloucester just four days after he left their rivals Northampton by mutual consent.

33 year old Spencer will have to contend with the England international Olly Barkley and Ryan Lamb for the number ten jersey, but he says he's thrilled to be able to stay in the championship which a leading club.

Coach Dean Ryan said Gloucester had beaten off considerable competition to secure Spencer's services.
