The Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has equalled the record for the highest number of one-day international cricket wickets in the third match with India in Colombo.

The 36-year-old, in his 327th match, dismissed centurion Yuvraj Singh to join Pakistan all-rounder Wasim Akram, who took 502 wickets in 356 matches.

Muralitharan is already way ahead as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, with 769 from 125 matches.

Muralitharan took just one wicket in the match that was won by India by 147 runs to lead the 5-match series 3-nil.
