Struggling clubs fuel record premier league spending

English premier league football clubs defied the credit crunch to spend a record 460-million dollars during the January transfer window.

More than half the total was spent by the world's richest club Manchester City, and another struggling club Tottenham Hotspur.

Deloittes sports business group said the spending spree underlined the financial strength and global appeal of the Premier League.
