The retired Australian cricket opener Matthew Hayden says he'll help Andrew Symonds deal with any issues affecting his life and cricket career.

Symonds has been stood down from all national duties, including this month's tour of South Africa, and won't be considered for selection until he satisfies strict new criteria.

Hayden says Symonds is currently working his way through his rehabilitation programme.

All-rounder Andrew Symonds has been suspended from international matches by Cricket Australia until he undergoes counselling.
