Judge to investigate Dakar Rally death

An Argentine judge is to investigate the circumstances behind the death of French motorcyclist Pascal Terry in last month's Dakar Rally.

Terry was found dead three days after disappearing while racing in the Dakar Rally and a police post-mortem indicated he died from a pulmonary edema which brought on cardio-respiratory failure.

The 49-year-old disappeared while taking part in the second stage of the race on January 4th between Santa Rosa and Puerto Madryn and his body was found three days later, lying 50 metres from his machine.

There were claims afterwards that confusion over whether or not he had arrived at camp following the stage had delayed the start of the search.
