Penney a late scratching for Breakers road trip

7:10 pm on 5 February 2009

The New Zealand Breakers shooting guard Kirk Penney has stayed home as the team travelled to Sydney for a double header weekend on the road in the Australian National Basketball League.

Penney jarred the knee at training on Monday but the Breakers remain confident of coming away from the latest road trip with two wins.

The third-placed ANBL side square off against the 9th placed Wollongong Hawks on Friday night and then Saturday against the sixth placed Adelaide 36ers.

A win on Friday will snap the Breakers' current three-game losing streak but Breakers assistant coach Dean Vickerman says the recent losses haven't dented their confidence.

The Breakers have one more home game before the playoffs.
