The two basketballers fighting to be the NBA's most valuable player this season are continuing to put up big numbers.

LeBron James has poured in 52 points to lead the Cleveland Calaliers to a 107-102 victory over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The performance came two days after Kobe Bryant dropped 61 points against the Knicks at the same venue.

In his latest outing, Bryant had 36 points in the LA Lakers hard fought 115-107 road win over the Toronto Raptors.

James and Bryant will face off when Los Angeles visits Cleveland on Monday, New Zealand time.
