James stipped of triple double

7:24 am on 8 February 2009

The Cleveland Cavalier basketballer LeBron James has had his triple-double from this week's game against the New York Knicks stripped after the NBA reviewed the game.

The NBA says a rebound credited to James should have actually been awarded to Ben Wallace, who had tipped the loose ball to James with 39.3 seconds remaining.

James will now be credited with 52 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.

Prior to Friday's ruling, James had been the first player to record a triple-double while scoring 50 points since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar achieved the feat in 1975.
