David Beckham has equalled the late Bobby Moore's outfield record of 108 caps for England after coming on as a substitute in England's 2-nil loss to Spain in their international football friendly in Seville.

The 33-year-old midfielder, was recalled to the squad after impressing coach Fabio Capello with his recent displays for AC Milan.

Beckham now looks set to eclipse Moore as the most capped outfield player when England play their next match, a World Cup qualifier against Slovakia late next month.

However Beckham's still got some way to go to catch the overall record holder, goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who played 125 times games for England.

In other matches Diego Maradonna's Argentina have beaten France 2-nil, while in World Cup qualifiers Northern Ireland have won 3-nil in San Marino, and Ireland beat Georgia 2-1 in Dublin.
