Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at English football champions Manchester United until 2010.

The 35-year-old winger, whose previous deal was set to end in June, has made a record 787 appearances for United since making his debut in 1991.

The Welshman's new contract at Old Trafford will run until only a few months short of his 37th birthday.

Giggs is United's most decorated player having won 10 Premier League titles, two Champions League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups.

His goal against West Ham on Monday made him the only player to have scored in all 17 Premier League seasons.

He made a club record 759th appearance in May's Champions League final win over Chelsea, surpassing Bobby Charlton.

Giggs retired from international football in 2007 after making his 64th appearance for Wales in order to prolong his club career.
