Butler says Twenty20 ideal format for him

Four years after last playing international cricket pace bowler Ian Butler is back in the New Zealand setup but it's not Test cricket that holds the appeal now - it's the Twenty20 format.

Butler was rushed into the New Zealand lineup seven years ago as a 20-year-old fast bowler after playing just two first class games for Northern Districts.

He played his last Test in 2004.

Butler, who's now 27, moved from ND to Otago this season in an effort to rejeuvenate his career.

He says the prospect of resuming his Test cricket hasn't entered his mind with Twenty20 being the ideal format as far as he's concerned.

Butler says his goal now is to make the New Zealand Twenty20 side to compete at the World Cup later this year.
