The Warriors backrower Simon Mannering has signed a new three-year contract to stay at the club until the end of the 2012 National Rugby league season.

The 22-year-old was off-contract at the end of this year and there had been strong interest in him from other NRL and English Super league as well as rugby union chief executive Wayne Scurrah says his re-signing one of the most important in the club's history.

Scurrah says the club's developed Mannering and he's a huge part of its future.

Mannering says his aim has always been to stay at the club where started.

He made his debut as an 18-year-old against Brisbane in 2005 and hasn't missed an NRL match since becoming a first-choice selection after a delayed start to the 2006 season.
