Otago and Auckland top Twenty20 ladder

Otago and Auckland top the State Twenty20 cricket competition after fifth round wins over Northerrn Districts and Wellington while Canterbury are third after beating Central Districts.

Auckland and Otago's four wins from five games have them on 16 points, with Canterbury and Wellington on 12, Central on four and Northern still to win.

Auckland won by 3 wickets with only one ball to go at Eden Park. where Wellington were sent in, slumping to 60 for seven before an unbeaten innings of 42 from Matthew Bell helped them to 128.

Otago made 191 for 4 in Dunedin, Aaron Redmond top-scoring with 80, and Northern Districts fell 21 runs short, despite Brad Wilson's 91 off 53 deliveries.

Canterbury beat Central Districts by 13 runs in Christchurch after making 148 for 8. Jamie How top-scored for Central with 62.
