The England and Wales Cricket Board has suspended negotiations with Sir Allen Stanford over a new sponsorship deal after fraud charges were laid against the Texan billionaire.

Stanford, who has heavily backed cricket in the West Indies, has been charged over an alleged 16 billion dollar investment fraud in the United States.

The ECB has a five-year deal to play games against the Stanford Superstars in a winner take all multi million dollar competition.

The Sunday News reported that the Black Caps were being considered to be part of a quadrangular tournament backed by Stanford at Lord's in May as a warmup to the Twenty20 World Cup.
