PNG kick off bid to make play in NRL

Papua New Guinea's kicked off its bid to enter a team into the Australian National Rugby League competition.

The government has put $300,000 into developing an NRL proposal with Gold Coast Titans chairman Paul Broughton and Queensland coach Mal Meninga also part of PNG's 'bid team'.

Rugby league is PNG's national sport with an estimated one third of PNG's six million people playing the game.
