Drysdale dominates single sculsl semi-finals

Olympic bronze medalist Mahé Drysdale has scored an emphatic win in a time nearly six seconds faster than Rob Waddell in today's Premier Single Sculls semi finals at the National Rowing Championships on Lake Ruataniwha.

Drysdale finished well ahead of past and present age group world champions Joseph Sullivan and Storm Uru.

Current lightweight world champion Duncan Grant and current Under-23 world champion in the lightweight single, Graham Oberlin-Brown, failed to make the final.

In the second heat, Rob Waddell, the current title holder, dominated, finishing ahead of Nathan Cohen - with another former lightweight world champion Peter Taylor finishing third and taking the last finals spot.

The final is Saturday afternoon.
