New manager doesn't curry favour with captain and coach

The appointment of the new Black Caps team manager Dave Currie appears to have polarised the players and NZ cricket bosses.

New Zealand Cricket decided to restructure the manager's role last year and last week Currie, the long time Olympic and Commonwealth Games Chef de Mission, was appointed to take over from Lindsay Crocker who'd been in the job for five years.

Radio New Zealand understands the captain and coach Daniel Vettori Vettori and Andy Moles wanted Crocker re-appointed, but New Zealand Cricket's chief executive Justin Vaughn maintains they were both 'comfortable' with Currie's appointment.

The Black Caps and Currie will come together for the first time on Monday as they prepare for the series against India starting with a Twenty-20 match in Christchurch on Wednesday.
