Umaga to hit the field this weekend

8:58 am on 21 February 2009

Three weeks after announcing that he'll return to play, Tana Umaga is actually expected to grace a rugby field again this morning when he lines up up for Toulon against Stade Français in a French club clash in Paris.

The Top 14's first ever player/coach was prevented from making his return against Mont-de-Marsan when a release letter from the New Zealand Rugby Union required for his licence didn' arrive in time.

A year and a half after his last appearance for the Hurricanes the former All Blacks captain is ready to show his troops how it's done first hand.

The 35-year-old All Black great didn't sound that optimistic after a training session this week.

He said he didn't feel young, it's been a while since he played at this level and if he did play this weekend, he'd try his best.

Toulon are currently 12th in the standings with four wins from 16 matches.
