Both the Blues and the Crusaders lost on the road.

The.Blues were easily beaten by the Bulls 59 - 26 in Pretoria. Ahead 32 - 14 at halftime the Bulls scored seven tries to four, converting six of them as well as three penalties and a drop goal from Morne Steyn.

On Saturday night the ACT Brumbies came back with a last minute try and conversion to beat the Crusaders 18 - 16 in Canberra.

The Crusaders led 11 - 8 at halftime and by five points until the dying minutes when the home side poured on the pressure, eventually leading to the try to Brumbies fullback Mark Gerrard, which captain Stirling Mortlock converted in the final act of the game.
