The Phoenix Suns basketball side will be without Amar'e Stoudemire for at least eight weeks after the NBA all-star forward underwent eye surgery to repair a partially detached retina in his right eye.

Although it is not clear when the injury occurred, Stoudemire was poked in the eye in Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Suns General Manager Steve Kerr says the procedure went really well and Stoudamire's got an excellent prognosis for a full recovery.
