A sprinter who is unable to run in most athletics meetings because of his doping history, has been included in Britain's team for next month's European Indoor Championships in Turin.

Dwain Chambers, who was banned for two years after testing positive for the banned steroid THG in 2003, sealed his place in the 60 metres with a time of 6.51sec in the trials and will start as favourite.

The 30-year-oldn is severely restricted in the number of events he can compete in because of the zero-tolerance anti-doping policy of the EuroMeets Consortium which organises many meetings.

Chambers is also barred from competing in the Olympics under British team rules but is expected to run at the World Championships in Berlin in August.
