The Black Caps skipper Daniel Vettori says India's reputation for not touring well in New Zealand puts more onus on his side to perform well against them.

Vettori leads New Zealand in the tour opener, a Twenty20 match in Christchurch this evening.

He says even when the Black Caps haven't being doing well overseas there's always an expectation they should know their home conditions and understand how to play a lot better than their opponents.

However Vetttori says India's one of the better challenges in world cricket, with an great batting lineup, an impressive seam attack and one of the world's best spinenrs in Harbhajan Singh,

Vettori says after training yesterday he's optimistic about the injured batsman Ross Taylor's chances of getting through a fitness test today
