Hurricanes number eight Victor Vito is back in the New Zealand rugby sevens side for the first time this season having been named in the world cup squad to compete in Dubai next month.

Ten members of the current squad feature in the 12 named by coach Gordon Tietjens with Taranaki's Ben Souness also included.

Captain DJ Forbes is also back after missing the last world series tournament in San Diego with a leg injury.

Two of the side, Lote Raikabula and Nigel Hunt, were members of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning side.

Chiefs fullback Sosene Anesi, who was called into the training squad, wasn't considered for selection as Tietjens says he hadn't overcome a hamstring injury.

The full team is: Forbes, Tomasi Cama, Paul Grant, Hunt, Zar Lawrence, Tim Nanai, Raikabula, Ben Souness, Chad Tuoro, Tu Umaga Marshall, Vito, Viliame Waqaseduadua.

And a 12-strong New Zealand Women's Sevens RWC squad has been named for the inaugural Women's Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament.

All but three of the squad bring international experience having played with the Black Ferns previously.

The team is: Exia Edwards (Bay of Plenty), Julie Ferguson (Hawke's Bay) Victoria Grant (Auckland), Carla Hohepa (Otago), Linda Itunu (Auckland), Justine Lavea (Auckland), Huriana Manuel (Auckland), Hannah Porter (Captain, Auckland), Teresa Te Tamaki (Auckland), Renee Wickliffe (Counties Manukau), Rachel Wikeepa (Waikato), Selica Winiata (Manawatu).

Both the men's and the women's tournaments kick off in Dubai on March the 5th.
