Another day, another controversy at the Force

2:32 pm on 26 February 2009

Western Force officials, still coming to grips with Matt Giteau's decision to return to Canberra, have denied reports they are trying to appoint the rugby World Cup-winning coach Jake White to replace John Mitchell at the end of the season.

The Australian newspaper says the South African's been approached already but Rugby West Australia's chief executive Greg Harris has denied holding talks with White.

And chairman Geoff Stooke has sent an email to Mitchell's management company assuring them their client's position is safe.

Mitchell is contracted until the end of 2011 and was the subject of an independent inquiry during the off-season after players and staff voiced their discontent with the former All Blacks coach.
