The New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell's ongoing shoulder injury has forced him to withdraw from next month's New Zealand Open near Queenstown.

Campbell's been battling the injury for several months and has told organisers that he's run out of time to be fit enough to compete in the 91st Open at The Hills starting on April 12th.

The 2005 US Open champion hasn't played a tournament since October last year and hopes to return to the game in April at The Masters at Augusta.

Campbell plans to return to Florida next month to begin his practice with coach Jonathan Yarwood, and to continue his rehabilitation programme and intensive treatment.
